We don't know precisely what Jennings is struggling with, but we know that his coaches watched him in practice every day and decided he wasn't even worth a roster spot. Most guys simply don't have what it takes and it can be hard to tell who that will be until they get there. The fact is that the leap from college to the NFL is huge, from both a mental and physical perspective. And there's a TON of stellar athletes who come in every year and don't have the skills for the NFL. They do show some correlation with success, but far from enough to be dispositive on a guy. The Profiler stats like breakout age and dominator are fairly new and not that well-established. I've always been a bit opposed to relying just on numbers to judge a prospect.

The success rate for WRs is very low, and even lower in mid to late rounds. I don't think the question is why guys like him fail, its why other guys succeed.

But I think his career might be cut short unless he can stay healthy and cuts down on the mental mistakes. He's got good speed and I've heard can run good routes. There was also a rumor that Wilson pushed the team to draft him because he worked out with him before, so he might not have even been a player the team wanted to draft. He had a couple of penalties on special teams so we would just be inactive on game days. Then there's also the fact we had a couple of solid #3s already on the team which meant zero playing time. Separately, we already had a solid #1 (Lockett) and Metcalf, while also injured during TC, was being praised by the coaching staff and Russell Wilson himself. There was also concern of his ability to grasp the playbook. The biggest issue was he wasn't fully healthy his time here so he didn't get in many reps.
